・ Parking is located behind the Kumamoto City General Gymnasium (shared with the gymnasium)

      Rental stroller is available in the library. The General Reception on the 1st floor has one for rent.

      Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available in the entrance hall and in the Kumamoto Museum of Literature and History.
     
      Nursing room for babies is in the Children's Library

     No photography allowed in the library.

○Children's Reading Room
We have materials for children ranging from babies to junior high school students.

There is also a special collection of materials, such as Big Books and picture-story books, available for loan to groups hosting storytelling events, as well as a section dedicated to parenting resources. Storytelling sessions are regularly held.

A vending machine offering drinks and light snacks is available.

○ Second Reading Room
This room contains newspapers, magazines, government publications, and local historical materials.

 

○Lounge
You can use this lounge for reading and studying. Only drinks with a lid are allowed.

○ Library Use Information

◆ Creating a Library Card

  • You are welcome to enter the library and browse our books freely, but a library card is required to borrow materials.
  • You can apply for a library card if you live in Kumamoto Prefecture or commute to work or school within the prefecture.
  • Please bring a form of identification that shows your name, date of birth, and current address(for example, a driver's license or residence card).

◆ Borrowing and returning books

  • You may borrow up to 10 books at a time. The loan period is 15 days.
  • Please return books to the reading room counter within the loan period. On closed days or at night, please use the return boxes located next to the main entrance and at the north side entrance.

◆ Using the Internet

  • You can use "Kumamoto Free Wi-Fi" (local public Wi-Fi service) inside the library.
  • There are computers available for internet browsing in the reading rooms. Please ask at the counter if you would like to use one.
